Social Worker Position Summary The Part-Time School Social Worker provides social work services for students receiving special education services, ensuring students receive appropriate social emotional supports outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This position collaborates closely with the Director of Special Education, special education teachers, related service providers, families, and school staff to promote student success while maintaining compliance with federal and state special education requirements. This position averages approximately three (3) hours of direct service per week, in addition to IEP goal development, progress monitoring, documentation, consultation, and attendance at required IEP meetings. Core Expectations Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local special education requirements. Provide high-quality social work services aligned to student IEPs. Collaborate effectively with staff, families, and outside providers. Maintain accurate, confidential documentation and service logs. Exercise professionalism, initiative, and sound judgment while advocating for students. Social Worker Key Responsibilities Direct Student Services Provide individual and/or small group social work services as outlined in student IEPs. Deliver approximately three hours of direct service weekly. Support students' social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs. Assist students in developing coping skills, self regulation, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills. IEP Development & Compliance Develop measurable social work IEP goals. Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals. Complete required progress reports according to district timelines. Maintain accurate service logs and documentation. Ensure services are delivered in accordance with each student's IEP. Meetings & Collaboration Attend annual reviews, reevaluations, eligibility meetings, manifestation determinations, and other required IEP meetings. Collaborate with special education teachers regarding student progress and interventions. Consult with administrators, counselors, psychologists, and related service providers. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and services. Student Support Provide crisis intervention when appropriate. Assist in identifying barriers affecting student success. Connect families with community resources when appropriate. Support implementation of behavioral and social emotional interventions. Professional Responsibilities Maintain current knowledge of Illinois special education laws and best practices. Participate in professional development as appropriate. Maintain confidentiality of all student records.
