The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Job Overview The Stationary Engineer operates, repairs and maintains gas and oil‑fired boilers and all related equipment in the powerhouse in a technically accepted, safe and efficient manner. Essential Functions Adjust feed‑water levels, monitor fuel and air ratios for proper combustion. Clean fuel oil burners routinely or as necessary. Inspect, adjust and repair equipment as needed and other equipment for the main boiler room in a clean and safe condition at all times. Lubricate equipment. Operate and maintain water treatment program for feed and boiler water. Operate and monitor BMS, fire alarm and medical gas systems. Operate and maintain one or more oil and gas‑fired boilers, fuel oil heaters, feed‑water heaters, and chillers. Perform hands‑on mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all plant equipment, including pipe fitting. Operate incinerator when necessary. Perform all other duties as job assignment flexibility is prescribed. Perform preventive maintenance on incinerator and incinerator accessories. Perform preventive maintenance on laundry machines and equipment. Perform preventive maintenance on mail boiler room equipment, machinery and accessories. Periodically record steam pressure, feed water, city water, fuel oil pressure and stack temperature in log book. Snow removal duties as conditions dictate. Test boiler feed water. Qualifications Required: High School graduate or equivalent with on‑the‑job or formal training equivalent to a related program in an accredited vocational school. 1-3 years direct work experience related to boilers and generating equipment. A State of New Jersey Stationary Engineering Blue Seal licensure is required. Must possess and maintain a valid NJ State Driver's License. Certifications and Licenses Required State of New Jersey Stationary Engineering Blue Seal licensure. Valid NJ State Driver's License. Scheduling Requirements Full‑time, nights.
