Charge Nurse Operating Room The role is to manage perioperative care, ensuring patient safety and surgical efficiency. The Charge Nurse collaborates with surgical teams, monitors patients, and leads quality improvement initiatives. Responsibilities Assess patient status throughout the perioperative episode of care. Develop an individualized perioperative patient plan of care. Provide accurate, concise hand‑off reports to teammates. Manage the surgical area operationally and fiscally during tour of duty. Act as a clinical resource for perioperative personnel, applying current literature, guidelines, organizational policies, and regulatory and accreditation standards. Assist perioperative personnel in evaluating current practice through quality and performance improvement activities. Maintain radiation safety in accordance with facility policies and procedures. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. One year of OR and/or medical/surgical nursing experience preferred. Current state nursing licensure in good standing. Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment. Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of employment. Mandatory Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) when pediatric care is included within 90 days of employment. Specialty certification in perioperative nursing preferred. Compensation USD $60.00 per hour – USD $61.54 per hour.
