The City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have five (5) years or more direct supervision experience of RN(s) and LPN(s) and previous experience in a Long Term Care or Intermediate Care Facility (ICF/ID) for the Nursing Services Supervisor position for the Developmental Services Division Group Homes/Supportive Living program.And here's the exciting part - the selected candidate will qualify for a $10,000 hiring bonus!**Duties:Oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of health care plans to ensure comprehensive health care delivery.Collaborates with the Clinical Services Administrator, Physicians, Medical Director, and Consultants to ensure an interdisciplinary team approach to health-related concerns.Conducts routine audits of records and other quality assurance reviews to ensure compliance with departmental, city, state, and federal guidelines.Provides support to all assigned nursing staff, to include supervision, counseling, and other personnel matters.Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information, responding to requests, and participating in team problem-solving methods.Protects patients and employees by developing and interpreting infection-control policies and protocols, and by enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.Provide training, orientation, guidance, evaluation, and counseling to clinical and non-clinical staff to support improvements across all aspects of health care services provided.Remains aware of current laws governing nursing practice in Virginia and ensure compliance.Complete routine projects assigned with minimal supervision and collaborating with other participants or stakeholders as applicable.The City offers a generous benefits package, which includes health, dental and life insurance, retirement and savings plans, maternity/paternity and parental leave, holidays and Paid-Time-Off.Preferences:Five (5) or more years of experience as a Registered NurseTwo (2) or more years experience in performance management (direct supervision)Two (2) or more years experience in home health or long-term care environmentExperience in working with individuals with Intellectual DisabilitiesExperience with health-related Medicare/Medicaid regulationsExperience in providing staff education/trainingThis recruitment is posted as open until filled. Current CPR certification. A current and valid driver’s license. Special Requirements: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Some positions may require psychiatric nursing experience (program specific). This position may require incumbents to wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to, safety footwear, hard hats, safety eyewear, gloves, or other safety attire and equipment in designated areas of risk.
