The Nurse Manager oversees nursing staff and ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in both clinical and home settings, with a focus on acute and specialty infusion services. This role manages clinical nursing activities, implements effective nursing management strategies, and advocates for patient safety and well-being. By leading, mentoring, and growing the nursing team, the Nurse Manager fosters a collaborative environment that promotes continuous improvement and adherence to clinical best practices. The position works cross-departmentally to ensure smooth communication among all stakeholders and ensures that nursing operations align with organizational goals and regulatory standards to optimize patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, train, develop, coach, and supervise nursing and ancillary staff within the assigned market.

• Conduct regular performance discussions, establish individual and departmental goals, and complete annual performance evaluations.

• Maintain staff competency programs, annual competency validations, and required supervisory visits.

• Develop staff engagement, promote teamwork, and foster a professional, inclusive, and culturally sensitive work environment.

• Ensure appropriate nursing coverage, including management of after-hours and on-call nursing services.

• Oversee and support the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered infusion nursing services in patient homes and infusion suites within assigned territories.

• Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of patient care in accordance with the nursing process and physician orders.

• Review and monitor patient care plans and plans of treatment for appropriateness and direct modifications as clinically indicated.

• Coordinate care among patients, caregivers, physicians, home health agencies, the pharmacy, and other healthcare providers.

• Maintain clinical competency and provide direct patient care as needed to ensure continuity of services.

• Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, accreditation, regulatory, and internal directives within nursing operations to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, clinical standards, and quality initiatives.

• Maintain oversight of clinical documentation, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and regulatory compliance.

• Protect the confidentiality, privacy, and security of patient, employee, and organizational information, including compliance with HIPAA and applicable privacy regulations.

• Participate in quality improvement and organizational committees as assigned.

• Promote efficient utilization of staffing resources, nursing services, and clinical supplies.

• Support cost-effective delivery of nursing services and monitor medical supply utilization.

• Collaborate with nursing leadership to optimize scheduling, patient assignments, visit utilization, and geographic staffing coverage.

• Maintain proficiency with electronic medical record systems and related clinical technology.

• Serve as a primary clinical resource and point of contact for home health agencies, physician offices, referral sources, patients, and internal team members.

• Facilitate transitions of care, including coordination of patient transfers to alternative providers when services cannot be accommodated.

• Ensure timely communication of significant clinical findings and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to promote positive patient outcomes.

• Demonstrate excellence in customer service and cultivate strong relationships with patients, caregivers, referral sources, and healthcare partners.

• Partner with sales, intake, pharmacy, and operational teams to support growth initiatives and expansion of infusion services.

• Participate in customer meetings, educational presentations, and clinical consultations with referral sources.

• Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities to increase utilization of nursing services, ambulatory infusion services, and other strategic programs.

• Travel throughout the assigned territory as necessary to support patient care, staff supervision, and operational needs.

• Perform other related duties as assigned to support high-quality nursing operations and patient care.

Essential Skills

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program recognized by the applicable State Board of Nursing.

• Current, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment, with the ability to obtain and maintain licensure in assigned territories as required.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Valid driver's license with the ability to travel throughout assigned territories.

• Minimum of three (3) years of infusion nursing experience.

• Minimum of two (2) years of progressive leadership experience managing clinical staff.

• Three to five (3–5) years of home infusion, home health, or home care experience.

• Experience administering infusion therapy in home, ambulatory, acute care, or other clinical settings.

• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, develop, and retain high-performing clinical teams.

• Ability to organize work, manage competing priorities, and effectively delegate responsibilities.

• Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across disciplines.

• Ability to manage operational, quality, and patient care priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Commitment to customer service, quality outcomes, and continuous process improvement.

• Ability to lift and transport up to 10 pounds.

• Ability to travel regularly throughout assigned regions to support patients, staff, and operational needs, including travel in adverse weather conditions when necessary.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Preferred experience in pediatric, emergency department, critical care, or medical-surgical nursing.

• Comfort working across home, ambulatory, and acute care environments.

• Ability to maintain clinical competency while balancing leadership and administrative responsibilities.

• Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and related clinical technology.

• Skill in building and maintaining strong relationships with patients, caregivers, referral sources, and healthcare partners.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with sales, intake, pharmacy, and operational teams to support service growth.

• Strong focus on patient safety, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.

• Demonstrated ability to contribute to quality improvement initiatives and organizational committees.

Work Environment

This role operates across home and clinical settings, including patient homes and ambulatory infusion suites, within defined territories. The Nurse Manager works in a fast-paced environment that requires frequent travel to support patients, supervise staff, and address operational needs, including travel in varying and occasionally adverse weather conditions. The position relies on electronic medical record systems and clinical technologies to coordinate and document care. Mileage reimbursement is provided, and a company car and gas card may be available for team members who drive approximately 1,200 miles per month. Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Chantilly, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $125000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
