Mental Health Professional (MHP) Job Title: Mental Health Professional (MHP) Department: Mental Health Housing Status: Full‑Time, non‑exempt Reports To: Behavioral Health Site Manager Compensation: $17.38 per hour (weekday) and $21.68 per hour (weekend) Purpose The Mental Health Professional will provide engagement, support, and skill building to assist adults with a diagnosis of mental illness to live as independently as possible. They will work directly with the QMHP regarding clinical issues. Key Responsibilities Assure that all clients receive clinically sound triage/referral and ongoing consumer services for behavioral health needs. Assist in completing functional assessments and provide input into the treatment planning process. Monitor the activities of individuals, then report and document changes in behavior and/or symptoms. Coordinate the transportation needs of the residents and provide transportation when needed. Accountable for supervised residences being clean and free of safety hazards and report problems using the chain of command. Deliver high quality care appropriate to the age and educational level of the individual. Respond to crisis situations by providing direction, recommendations, and crisis intervention. Maintain accurate, concise, current clinical documentation, including phone conversations, requests, changes in clinical conditions, and consultations with team members. Utilize a holistic approach to determine teaching methods appropriate to the individual. Provide psycho‑education to clients and families regarding their illness, medications, and/ or treatment plan to supplement information provided by health care professionals. Daily face‑to‑face contact with individuals to provide active‑listening, support, and encouragement. Support and assist individuals with employment and education. Education and/or Experience Required/Preferred A bachelor's degree in counseling and guidance, rehabilitation counseling, social work, education, vocational counseling, psychology, pastoral counseling, family therapy, or a related human service field; or a bachelor's degree in any other field with two years of documented supervised clinical experience in a mental health setting; or a high school diploma or GED with 5 years documented supervised clinical experience in mental health or human services; or any other education and experience qualifying for Mental Health Professional under 89 Ill. Adm. Code 140.453. Licenses/Certifications Required: NA Preferred: NA Skills Required Trauma‑informed: Must display a willingness to adopt trauma‑informed interventions, principles, and practices and commit to ongoing development of their capacity for application of trauma‑informed care.
