Principal– Property & Casualty Actuarial Consulting - M&A Location: Flexible, but preferably in Northeast US (e.g., New York) Company Overview The Property and Casualty Consulting Practice assists insurance companies, self-insured corporations, government entities, and other organizations with all aspects of managing property and casualty insurance exposures. We guide P&C clients on their qualitative assessment and quantification of risk and loss exposures, and offer advice on a range of issues, from external business strategy and internal risk management to economic capital modeling and new product development. Summary Oliver Wyman is seeking a high-performing Principal to join the mergers and acquisitions (“M&A”) team and lead the management, execution, and delivery of projects for Oliver Wyman’s clients, which include top tier insurance and reinsurance companies, alternative asset managers, private equity firms, investment banks, law firms, and regulators. This role combines deep actuarial expertise with strategic leadership, client relationship management, and business development responsibility. The ideal candidate is a commercially minded leader who can oversee large client portfolios, develop trusted executive relationships, mentor teams, and identify opportunities to expand the practice’s impact across the insurance ecosystem. Responsabilities Lead actuarial due diligence projects for M&A and reinsurance transactions, including review of actuarial reports, data and models to assess the adequacy of the target reserve estimates, loss ratio projections, pricing & underwriting practices, etc. Quantify downside risk associated with potential transactions using stochastic models Conduct exploratory data analysis on exposure/loss data to uncover important business shifts; decompose complex datasets into simple narratives and recommendations Develop executive level management reports, including development of data visualizations Present findings to senior management and C-suite executives Develop network of contacts throughout the industry via participation in deals, industry conferences, and other events Lead client sales meetings and proposal development Work in partnership with our management consulting and actuarial practices in the US and globally Qualifications BA/BS degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance or related field 10+ years of professional actuarial experience in consulting or insurance FCAS credential required Demonstrated success managing client relationships and leading complex engagements. Proven business development experience, including generating new opportunities and expanding client relationships. Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence diverse audiences. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a client-oriented mindset. The applicable base salary range for this role is $180,000 – $250,000. The base pay offered will bedeterminedon factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will bedeterminedon a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
