This contract position offers you the opportunity to use your specialized expertise and passion for accessible education to empower students who are blind or have low vision, helping them to reach their fullest potential every day. Qualifications and Experience: Valid teaching credential with endorsement or certification in Visual Impairments Familiarity with Braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive devices Experience developing and implementing IEPs for students with visual needs Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with families and multidisciplinary teams Creative problem-solving abilities, flexibility, and a student-centered mindset Previous experience as a Visually Impaired Teacher in school settings preferred Key Responsibilities: Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum to ensure accessibility and meaningful engagement Assess students individual needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) with measurable goals Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to create inclusive learning environments Train staff and students on the use of assistive technology, orientation and mobility techniques, and other adaptive tools Advocate for accommodations, modifications, and resources that support student success Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation, adjusting plans as needed This contract role is an opportunity to foster independence, confidence, and achievement for students navigating challenges in their educational journey.
