NKC Health Primary Care - Gashland clinic is hiring a Referral/Pre-Authorization Coordinator . If you’re looking for a great opportunity to impact our communities, join our NKC Health team! Typical Hours The hours of operation for the Gashland clinic are Monday‑Friday, 7:30 AM–5 PM. Your primary schedule will be during those hours, with periodic need to work outside your schedule to serve our patients. Key Responsibilities Act as a liaison between the healthcare team, patient, and specialists to coordinate outpatient referrals and obtain pre‑certifications or prior authorizations as necessary. Utilize the EMR system to capture all required information for appointments and to communicate referral requirements, patient demographics, insurance and approval details, and critical comments. Provide education to patients about the importance of the referral process and the services offered by the physician’s office. Coordinate efforts between providers, gathering and delivering information essential to appointment success. Communicate to physicians and other health care providers the various requirements and processes involved with medical referral authorizations for the most expedient patient appointment. Complete the referral and/or pre‑authorization process, ensuring specialists’ reports or test results are received. Notify the referring physician when a patient does not keep a referral appointment or a pre‑authorization is denied. Monitor incoming patient paperwork, scan, and flag results that need physician review. Complete FMLA, ADA, and other medical paperwork as directed by the physician. Qualifications High school graduate or GED. Minimum two years of experience in a physician office preferred. Working knowledge of medical terminology and various insurance company requirements for pre‑certification and referrals. Basic office skills, critical thinking, detail oriented, and able to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
