Sector: Banking & InvestmentReference: Antal/HALMUSA/97643Job Title: Head, Asset and Liability Management (ALM) – USAIndustry: Banking Location: New York, NYSalary: $180,000 – $230,000 + Benefits + BonusThe OpportunityOur client, an established international financial institution, is seeking an accomplished Head of Asset and Liability Management (ALM) to join its Treasury leadership team in New York.This is a senior and commercially significant appointment with responsibility for developing and executing the institution's asset and liability management, liquidity, funding, investment and balance-sheet strategies. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimising the cost and structure of funding, strengthening liquidity management, supporting sustainable balance-sheet growth and contributing to Treasury profitability.The role requires a strong combination of strategic ALM expertise, hands-on Treasury experience, market knowledge, risk management capability and commercial judgement.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute the organisation's ALM, liquidity, funding and Treasury strategies, aligned with overall business objectives and approved risk appetite.Optimise the funding structure and cost of funds while maintaining appropriate liquidity and balance-sheet resilience.Develop and manage funding programmes across instruments including commercial paper, repo funding, term funding and institutional deposits.Develop investment strategies for liquid assets, balancing liquidity, profitability, capital preservation and regulatory requirements.Forecast cash-flow positions, borrowing requirements and funds available for investment, while actively managing the liquidity portfolio.Produce and monitor key liquidity, funding and market-risk metrics and provide timely management information.Assess the liquidity and funding implications of new products and business initiatives.Monitor regulatory developments affecting liquidity, funding, capital and Treasury activities and ensure appropriate implementation.Develop and utilise hedging strategies to manage interest-rate and foreign-exchange risk within approved policies and limits.Provide senior management with advice on liquidity, funding and balance-sheet considerations relating to short- and long-term strategic planning.Oversee fixed-income investment activities in accordance with approved investment strategies, risk appetite, liquidity requirements and return objectives.Work closely with relevant trading, relationship management, Finance, Risk, Operations and Technology teams to support Treasury and wider business objectives.Maintain robust policies, procedures and controls governing Treasury activities and the end-to-end Treasury transaction lifecycle.Oversee regular Treasury and ALM reporting for senior management and relevant governance committees.Monitor market developments, funding conditions, interest rates, foreign-exchange markets and competitor activity to support informed decision-making.Ensure Treasury activities are conducted within approved credit, market, liquidity, operational, KYC and AML frameworks.Lead, coach and develop Treasury professionals, promoting strong governance, accountability and performance.Contribute to business development and the strengthening of relationships with banks, financial institutions and other relevant counterparties.Qualifications & ExperienceThe successful candidate is expected to bring:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related discipline.MBA, Master's degree or other relevant advanced qualification is desirable.Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) qualification is strongly preferred.At least 10 years of progressively responsible Treasury, trading and/or asset and liability management experience.Strong practical experience in foreign exchange and hedging, ideally gained over at least 5–7 years.Demonstrable expertise in liquidity management, funding, investments, balance-sheet management and Treasury risk.Strong understanding of cash management, deposit products, commercial paper, international funds flows and investment products.Experience developing and executing funding, deposit and investment portfolio strategies.Sound understanding of Treasury Management Systems and Treasury-related management information.Strong knowledge of relevant U.S.
