Must-Have: Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and technical factors, Proficiency with computerized systems, Experience with picture archiving and communication systems (PACS)

Description: This position will work days, evenings, and/or nights and weekends. The shift will be four 10-hour shifts. The CT Technologist coordinates and produces quality computerized tomography (CT) studies and assists in CT guided procedures. The technologist must demonstrate and exercise critical thinking skills. Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology is essential. Understanding radiation safety, venipuncture, and safe medication administration specific to contrast media and adjunct medications is required. The technologist is responsible for the safe operation of sophisticated imaging and ancillary equipment to produce quality CT procedures. Accurate documentation and image transmission and storage must be ensured. Professional and effective communication is required. Knowledge of age-appropriate criteria when working with all patients, including high risk and critically ill patients, is necessary. This role is responsible for accurate charge capture and documentation. The patient population served includes neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Quality Computerized Tomography examinations for review by the interpreting physician must be performed. CT examinations must be coordinated according to physician orders and protocols. Ordered examinations should be protocollized according to established guidelines and clinical history. Venipuncture and medication administration must be performed with a focus on safety and effectiveness. Care must be accurately documented in the electronic health record (EHR). A patient assessment prior to the performance of the study ensures safety and cooperation. Patients must be educated and all concerns/questions should be answered prior to the execution of the CT exam. Proficiency when working with PACS to transmit, archive, and retrieve digital images should be demonstrated. Experience with special procedures such as biopsies, aspirations, and various scanning techniques is preferred. Knowledge of compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements is expected.
