Job Description
The Lead Fair and Responsible Banking Risk Consultant will support the Fair and Responsible Banking (FaRB) Program within Corporate Compliance in the second line of defense. This individual will play a key role in the ongoing execution of the FaRB Program by providing independent oversight, credible challenge, and advisory support across fair lending and UDAP/UDAAP risk. The Lead FaRB Risk Consultant will partner with business-aligned Compliance Risk Managers, business partners, CRO teams, and other stakeholders to translate regulatory expectations into practical, risk-based guidance that supports sound decision-making and effective risk mitigation. This role will contribute to the development and enhancement of the FaRB Program through risk assessments, monitoring, issue management, governance activities, and advisory support. The individual will also support special initiatives and horizontal reviews spanning multiple products, channels, and functions, helping to drive consistency, identify emerging risks, and strengthen overall program effectiveness and maturity.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Typically more than eight years of applicable experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
Demonstrated experience in fair lending and UDAP/UDAAP compliance risk oversight, including advisory, risk assessment, monitoring, issue management, corrective action, and governance activities within a second line of defense framework.
Strong understanding of the application of fair lending and UDAP/UDAAP risks across financial products, with experience evaluating business practices throughout the consumer product lifecycle, including origination, pricing, marketing, servicing, and collections.
Ability to provide credible, independent challenge and translate regulatory expectations into actionable guidance, control expectations, and business decisions.
Experience developing effective partnerships and influencing cross-functional stakeholders across business, legal, risk, compliance, and analytics functions.
Ability to evaluate analytical and data-driven results, identify risk themes, and communicate conclusions and recommendations to stakeholders.
Experience reviewing and interpreting testing, monitoring, or risk assessment results to identify potential fair lending risks and escalate concerns as appropriate.
Experience supporting regulatory engagement and governance activities, including audit and examination requests, issue remediation efforts, and preparation of management and executive-level reporting materials.
Strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, financial services practices, and regulatory trends impacting fair lending and UDAP/UDAAP risk management.
Strong understanding of business operations, products, services, systems, and associated risks and controls.
Strong knowledge of risk management, compliance, and audit principles and practices.
Strong project leadership, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead complex initiatives and influence outcomes across matrixed teams.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex regulatory and risk concepts to diverse audiences.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
Applicable professional certifications (CRCM, CAMS, CAFP, or similar) preferred.
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $111,605.00 - $131,300.00U.S. Bank will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records for employment.
