Associate Specialist, Security (Fire / Rescue)

Merck seeks an Associate Specialist in Security (Fire/Rescue) to lead shift-based emergency response, fire protection, and security operations at its Virginia facility. The role involves incident management, hazardous materials coordination, fire system maintenance, and security oversight with on-call availability.
Responsibilities
- Oversee shift operations and conduct shift turnovers to ensure compliance with site procedures
- Serve as on-shift point of contact for safety, emergency, and security incidents; assess and respond appropriately
- Perform fire inspections, equipment testing, and maintenance on fire suppression systems and firefighting gear
- Conduct investigations of chemical spills, fire conditions, and other abnormal situations; initiate response actions
- Direct training for Emergency Response Team members and site personnel on emergency procedures and fire safety
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Firefighter I, II, or III certification
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
- Minimum 7 years professional or volunteer firefighting experience
- Confined Space Rescue training
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based programs
