Communications Specialist - University Communications and Marketing Job no: 562818 Work type: Staff Location: Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo Campus Categories: Unit 9 - CSUEU - Technical Support Services, Temporary, Full Time, Marketing/Communications, Telecommute eligible (work onsite as scheduled and/or as requested and telecommute as scheduled) Job Summary Reporting to UCM’s Associate Vice President for University Communications and Marketing, this position is a member of the UCM marketing team and works closely with members of theuniversitystorytellingteam to identify, develop and coordinate the production of content that supports Cal Poly’s brand strategies across a wide variety of channels including print, web, video and social media. This is a full-time temporary position for 6 months and 1 day and is eligible for full benefits, including medical, dental, vision and CalPERS retirement. University Communications and Marketing (UCM) serves as the ambassadors, stewards and protectors of Cal Poly’s reputation and brand. Key Qualifications Working knowledge of and ability to apply standard theories, practices,principlesand techniques related to communications in the public affairs, media,and/ormarketing fields. Demonstrated ability to keep abreast of campus events and subject matterexpertisein relation to current events toidentifyand capitalize on opportunities that will promote the university and increase positive media coverage. Strong writing and editing skills to quickly produce clear and concise standard documents for internal and external publication. Education and Experience Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year‑for‑year basis. Salary and Benefits Anticipated Hiring Range:$5,495 - $6,832 per month Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
