REYNOLDS AMERICAN has an exciting opportunity for a Control Room Specialist in Tobaccoville.

The Control Room Specialist is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and coordinating all activities related to production operations from the control room. This role ensures safe, efficient, and continuous plant operation by overseeing process equipment, responding to alarms, communicating with field operators, and supporting real-time decision-making. The position plays a key role in maintaining product quality, equipment reliability, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor plant equipment, process controls, instrumentation, automated systems, and safety systems from the control room, adjusting process parameters to maintain performance and product quality.
  • Respond promptly to alarms, abnormal conditions, safety incidents, process deviations, and equipment malfunctions. Escalate incidents and coordinate troubleshooting with field operators and maintenance teams.
  • Serve as the central communication point for operations, maintenance, leadership, and field teams. Dispatch field operators to perform manual checks, inspections, and adjustments as needed.
  • Issue work notifications and accurately document operational changes, downtime, alarms, equipment status, safety events, near misses, process deviations, production batches, and process variations.
  • Prepare shift reports and turnover documentation, including key operational events, to ensure seamless communication and continuity between teams.
  • Comply strictly with OSHA, environmental, company safety policies, and established operating procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce downtime. Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions and recommend automation or procedural improvements.

What are we looking for?

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, utilities, or process control.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with HMIs, SCADA, or PLC-based systems.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks calmly in fast-paced environments while communicating effectively and working collaboratively.
  • Experience in a 24/7 plant environment (e.g., chemicals, power, plastics, metals)
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement principles.
