Associate Principal, Software Engineering: DevOps

Any resume submitted outside of an active job posting will not be considered for employment.What You'll Do:Provide subject matter expertise for the ongoing support of applications deployed to OCC's non-production AWS environments, as well as supporting third-party applications. Build, deploy, configure, and maintain non-production environments while driving improvements in process quality and stability.This role requires a deep understanding of DevOps practices, leadership skills, automation expertise, and proficiency across various DevOps tools and technologies, within a fast-paced, dynamic, self-driven environment using cutting-edge tools and cloud technologies. Manage day-to-day operational activities as needed, including ad-hoc support requests.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.Build, deploy, configure, and maintain non-production environments.Identify, analyze, and automate repetitive or manual tasks across infrastructure and deployments.Diagnose, resolve, and prevent issues affecting application functionality and user experience.Script solutions using Bash, Python, or similar tools to streamline DevOps processes.Advocate for and enforce DevOps and security best practices across infrastructure and deployment processes.Collaborate with development teams to identify automation opportunities and implement solutions that improve quality and efficiency.Act as a mentor and thought leader on DevOps culture, encouraging process ownership and continuous improvement across teams.Lead automation efforts in an Agile development environment, including planning, estimating, and reporting on automation progress.Participate in code reviews, defect triage, and other software development activities.Continuously research and evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to improve automation strategies and tools.Support and maintain cloud-native applications running on Kubernetes within AWS.Create procedural and troubleshooting documentation related to cloud-native applications.Provide on-call support for non-production environment incidents per the on-call rotation schedule.Perform other duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities:N/AQualifications:The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary functions.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong focus on quality and process improvement.Understanding of how to minimize resource consumption and runtime while ensuring scalability in automation processes.Ability to work independently and proactively identify solutions under minimal supervision.Ability to work with management to prioritize tasks.Ability to lead by example, promote ownership, and drive a culture of automation and reliability.Good written and oral communication skills.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.5+ years of experience in a DevOps, Site Reliability, or Infrastructure Engineering role.Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, HashiCorp Terraform Associate).Flexibility to be on call from 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM, rotational, for approximately 3 months per year.Technical Skills:Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer with a strong automation backgroundDeep knowledge of CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitHub, Jenkins - Groovy, K8s, helm, etc.).Strong hands-on experience with Terraform for cloud infrastructure provisioning.Proficiency in Linux administration and shell scripting (Bash, Python, or similar).Solid understanding of AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM, etc.).Strong understanding of software development methodologies, testing concepts, and Agile development practices, including Scrum and KanbanEducation and/or Experience:Bachelor's degree in a related area7-10 years of related experienceMinimum 5 years experience on scripting/devOps AutomationMinimum 3 years experience working with AWS servicesMinimum 3 supporting and maintaining Certificates or Licenses:Cloud Certification a plusAbout UsThe Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) is the world's largest equity derivatives clearing organization. If hired at OCC, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as skills, experience and/or education.
