AVIONICS SYSTEMS ENGINEER

PAY RANGE: $67.00 - $72.00 per hour (paid weekly)

LOCATION: Grand Rapids, MI 49512 (Onsite, Monday - Friday with 9/80 schedule)

DURATION: 6-Months (Contract-To-Hire)

MISC: Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance options available on Day-1 and 401(k) on Day-90.

SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking an Avionics Systems Engineer to support the development, integration, verification, and qualification of complex systems used in aircraft and mission-system testing. This position offers hands-on involvement throughout the full engineering lifecycle, from requirements development and system integration through qualification testing and customer acceptance. You will work closely with hardware, software, test, quality, and program teams to ensure integrated systems meet technical, regulatory, and customer requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain system-level requirements, verification strategies, test plans, procedures, and reports.
• Define verification methods, acceptance criteria, and requirements traceability.
• Create and execute test procedures for avionics Ground Support Equipment involving hardware, software, networking, and integrated system functionality.
• Perform system integration, verification, validation, qualification, and acceptance testing.
• Analyze test results, troubleshoot hardware and software anomalies, and document findings.
• Partner with engineering teams to resolve technical issues and improve system performance and testability.
• Support design reviews, test readiness reviews, customer reviews, and qualification events.
• Prepare technical documentation, including test reports, discrepancy reports, and verification compliance matrices.
• Ensure engineering and testing activities follow applicable aerospace, military, quality, and internal standards.
• Help improve test automation, verification methods, and systems engineering processes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline.
• 2+ years of experience in systems engineering, integration and test, verification and validation, avionics, or a related aerospace or defense environment.
• Experience developing or executing system-level test procedures and verification activities.
• Ability to interpret technical requirements, specifications, and interface documentation.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues in a laboratory, test, or integration environment.
• Strong written, verbal, and technical documentation skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with avionics, aircraft subsystems, mission systems, or aerospace Ground Support Equipment.
• Experience using requirements management tools such as DOORS.
• Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.
• Experience with test automation or scripting using Python, MATLAB, C#, or similar technologies.
• Knowledge of aerospace or defense product-development processes.
• Experience supporting system qualification, certification, or customer acceptance testing.
• Familiarity with configuration management and defect-tracking tools.
• Experience working within FAA, military, aerospace, or another regulated engineering environment.

Compensation:

$67.00 - $72.00/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
