Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiac Med Intermediate (Telemetry) position at a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center in Springfield, MO, requiring at least 1 year of cardiac telemetry experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

Details

• Work setting is a 31-bed Cardiac Med Intermediate unit (4B) within a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and Level 2 Stroke Center
• Patient population consists of cardiac and med-surg patients
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Patient ratios vary: 1:5–1:6 on days, 1:6–1:8 on nights (estimates)
• Equipment includes Alaris pumps, telemetry monitors, and lift equipment
• EMR is Epic
• Floating required on a rotational basis
• No on-call requirements
• Weekend hours required as determined by the facility
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license — must meet eligibility requirements for Missouri licensure or hold a current MO or compact state license
• Current BLS certification from AHA required
• NIHSS certification required prior to start (may be considered without it if obtained before start date)
• ACLS from AHA preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient cardiac telemetry experience required
• Experience and competence in drug titration required
• No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
• Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs not accepted)
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift, and turn patients with assistance; push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs., pinch up to 15 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally

Additional Information

• Provides direct patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation across all age groups
• Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes
• Night shift orientation takes place on day shift; candidate must be available for the entire orientation week
• Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1 — declinations are not accepted
• Black scrubs required; torn clothing, open-toed shoes, and non-scrub attire are not permitted
• RTO of up to 5 days is allowed but must be made up during the assignment; RTO will not be approved during the first week of the assignment
• Only 1 holiday RTO request may be made per assignment
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but may be subject to a reduced travel pay rate
• Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment unless documentation of a scheduled renewal is provided
