Litigation Legal Assistant

$22 - $35 per hour

Role Description

The Litigation Legal Assistant will support attorneys and paralegals in active litigation matters by preparing, formatting, and proofreading legal documents such as pleadings, discovery responses, subpoenas, correspondence, and motions. This full-time role involves managing case files (both electronic and paper), organizing exhibits, maintaining databases, and ensuring documents are accurately filed with courts and served on parties. The position includes scheduling hearings, mediations, depositions, and client meetings, tracking deadlines, and maintaining attorneys’ calendars. The Legal Assistant will communicate with clients, court staff, experts, and vendors in a professional manner, and assist with trial preparation, including assembling binders and coordinating logistics. This is an in-person role based in Salinas, CA.

Compensation: $22 to $35 per hour 

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Law and Litigation procedures, with an understanding of court rules and filing requirements.
  • Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation and Legal Assistance, including drafting, formatting, and managing pleadings, discovery, and correspondence.
  • Experience with Administrative Assistance and Calendaring, including scheduling, deadline tracking, and managing multiple attorney calendars.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Comfort with legal practice management software, document management systems, and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, PDF tools).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience as a litigation legal assistant, legal secretary, or similar role in a law firm or legal department preferred.
