Job Summary The Facilities Janitorial Manager is responsible for the supervision, inspection, and control of all custodial and related services associated within the assigned contract. This is a working Manager position. Specific responsibilities for the Janitorial Manager will be determined by client expectations and at the discretion of the Director of Operations. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Properly allocate work responsibilities among subordinates. Supervise and coordinate the work activities of assigned areas (includes common areas, Service hallways, Food court, etc.). Manage payroll, vacation time, overtime. Train custodians on work‑related equipment. Supervise, motivate, discipline, and evaluate staff. Maintain financial accuracy for site budget. Know contract requirements and create schedules to keep staffing levels properly skilled to satisfy those schedules. Meet and coordinate with customer management representatives on all matters relating to services performed. Resolve client concerns and perform inspections for required outcomes. Janitorial Responsibilities Cleans assigned areas with the use of assigned chemicals, materials and equipment. Sanitize all surfaces. Collect and dispose of trash following approved procedures. Dust and damp mop floors following approved procedures, vacuum carpets and rugs. Move equipment and furniture for proper cleaning and place furniture back in correct placement. Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards and other items to maintain a clean, safe environment for staff and visitors. Operate various types of floor cleaning / scrubbing machines. Position requires bending, stooping, reaching up, and lifting to 40 pounds; and the ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods. Supervisory Responsibilities Meet periodically with subordinates to review status of various elements of facility services and institute corrective measures for any deficiencies found. Monitor supply use by keeping a detailed inventory. Order janitorial cleaning supplies. Ensure all equipment is in proper working condition. Perform any additional duties as required, including providing hands‑on cleaning as needed. Requirements Strong organizational and planning skills, responsiveness, attention to detail and excellent follow‑through. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Minimum of five to ten years of recent experience in working supervision of custodial and related employees performing cleaning functions in major facilities. Must have general hands‑on knowledge of both routine nightly and daytime facility cleaning and related services. Working hours shall include evenings, weekends, and call for emergency situations. Facilities management or equivalent experience preferred. Computer knowledge including use of Microsoft Office Suite.
