Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Underwriting Specialist to join our client in a role that supports key business operations and contributes to important organizational initiatives. This direct hire opportunity is based in Exton, PA and offers a Hybrid work arrangement with onsite training followed by a combination of in office and remote work. The individual in this role will evaluate commercial insurance risks, support portfolio performance, and contribute to business growth through sound underwriting decisions. This position provides opportunities to collaborate across multiple functions, build industry relationships, and participate in strategic planning efforts while helping maintain operational excellence.
Compensation:
Up to $100,000/year
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, normal business hours
Key Responsibilities of the Underwriting Specialist:

• Analyze new and existing commercial insurance opportunities, assess risk exposure, and make underwriting decisions that align with profitability and growth objectives.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external business partners to strengthen relationships, improve submission quality, and support successful policy placement and retention.
• Oversee policy related activities including endorsements, audits, reports, claims documentation, and account changes while ensuring accurate record maintenance.
• Monitor market conditions, evaluate business performance trends, and contribute to planning activities that support regional expansion and operational goals.
• Guide team development through knowledge sharing, training support, quality review participation, and adherence to established service and compliance standards.

Qualifications and Skills for the Underwriting Specialist:

• Bachelor’s degree required along with the ability to obtain a Property & Casualty insurance license within the designated timeframe if not currently licensed.
• Three to seven years of commercial Property & Casualty underwriting experience with delegated authority, including exposure to multiple insurance carriers preferred.
• Professional industry designation such as Associate in Underwriting or a comparable credential, with program administration or management experience considered a plus.
• Strong analytical abilities with experience evaluating complex or multi location risks, reviewing underwriting documentation, and maintaining attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and business technology tools, combined with excellent communication, relationship building, leadership, and organizational skills.
