Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a TN or compact RN license and at least 1 year of recent unit and EPIC EMR experience.

Details

• Work in the MS/Tele unit of a hospital setting
• 13 to 26 week assignment option
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30)
• Patient population includes higher oxygen demand, dialysis, afib, and post cardiac catheterization patients
• Step-down from ICU care with no ventilators or pressor support
• Manages drips including heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, and sotalol initiation
• Telemetry monitoring required
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend, subject to change based on need
• Floating to similar units may be required based on facility needs

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a Med/Surg Tele or similar unit required
• Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, oxygen administration, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Experience managing cardiac drips and interpreting dysrhythmias
• Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization and cardiac monitoring required

Additional Information

• Provide step-down level nursing care to cardiac and telemetry patients
• Monitor and respond to cardiac dysrhythmias using on-unit and remote telemetry
• Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
• Perform wound care and manage isolation precautions per PPE protocols
• Care for patients with pacemakers and those undergoing cardiac angiogram procedures
• First-time travelers will be considered based on relevant experience
• Orientation occurs weekly
• Travelers must complete pre-assignment testing and required modules within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from any facility within the health system to be eligible for travel assignments, with some mileage-based exceptions affecting eligibility and pay
