Bidding Buyer

: Overview & Responsibilities Purpose of the Job Primary role will be to serve as a Bidding Buyer for Ebara Elliott Energy for domestic & international projects. Working with our Applications Engineering group to develop RFQs and obtain proposals from our suppliers while providing feedback to Supply Chain Management on market conditions including supplier capacity's, lead times and price. Adhere to Company and Supply Chain policies and ensure competitive proposals are received with required quality within the project(s) timeline. Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Supply Chain or Engineering or related field.
• 3 - 5 years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Purchasing in the Turbomachinery field.
• Strong understanding of global supply chain & procurement processes and standards
• Excellent communication & negotiation skills are required along with an aptitude for figures and the ability to manage the budget as well the ability to influence other departments and disciplines to work together to meet the needs of the customer.
• The buyer should possess a background in team-oriented environments, a positive attitude, an ability to adopt the change, a demonstrated ability to make decisions and a positive perspective regarding the work environment.
• Understands company cost structure and how to develop full and accurate cost totals
• Strong understanding of supply chain processes and standards.
• Must have an experience and knowledge of ERP systems, Oracle is preferred, and working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Support multiple buying decisions on numerous, large and complex projects.
• Ensures suppliers meet proposal deadlines and identifies potential issues regarding deadlines; as appropriate, secures timeline extensions.
• Evaluates metrics on commodities and vendor performance to ensure best vendors are considered. Coordinates with various cross functional areas on purchasing quotation decisions and troubleshoots issues related to vendors, cost and availability
• Final responsibility for ensuring quotes for material availability for assigned commodities in planning process.
• Identification and development of new suppliers across the globe.
• Outlines and investigates alternative suppliers and options in the bidding process
• Responsible for benchmarking suppliers within their commodities to determine which vendors can provide the best overall value.
• Execute usage on ERP modules to automate purchasing activities as it relates to the preparation of bids in such aspects as, quantity-based discounts, volume distribution, etc.
• Serve as communication between suppliers and Elliott local and global supply chain teams.
• Discuss with potential vendors the basis for clarifications, discrepancies; sort out the issues for timely and proper material bid preparation.
• Ability to manage multiple short and long term tasks with limited supervision and direction.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to contribute and work cooperatively in a team environment with internal and external customers.
• Actively participates in cost, quality and lead time improvement processes as it relates to the solicitation of bids from suppliers.
• Identifies potential obstacles to on time delivery as it relates to suppliers. Practices principles of ethical purchasing and moral codes.
• Serves as a team member within the global supply chain team to help manage large / multiple RFQs and proposal reviews. Serves as liaison between the Application Engineers and Suppliers for commercial and technical clarifications for RFQs and supplier quotations.
• Ensure day-to-day follow-up, reporting and timely delivery of proposals from suppliers. Follow up with suppliers across time zones, geography, language, communication barriers etc.
• The job requires daily contact with departments including Application Engineering and the Supply Chain team within the company and suppliers. May have contact with both internal and external customers in coordination meetings and other problem areas.
• Actively participates in and coordinates meetings with internal and external customers
• Strong negotiating and influencing skills are required when soliciting proposals from suppliers and coordinating with internal stakeholders.
• 10% travel to supplier sites is expected
