Accounting Specialist II Posting Number: SP005423P Division/College: University Research Department: University Research Location: Moscow, Off Campus Location - Hybrid work optionavailable Posting Context Statement: The Office of Sponsored Programs is responsible for ensuring theresponsible stewardship of research funding, and overseeing thesubmission of proposals by reviewing those proposals to ensurecompliance with federal, State, University and sponsor regulationsand guidelines. Position Overview: The Accounting Specialist II performs a variety of accountingactivities that range in level of complexity from clericalaccounting duties such as managing receivables and payables, tomore complex duties such as reconciling accounts and resolvingaccounting problems. Duties may include: Process, update and maintain various routine accounting recordsand documents Prepare accounting statements, billing documents and financialreports Enter, retrieve and maintain data on computerized accountingsystem Respond to customer inquiries Reconcile / analyze accounting records for accuracy andcompleteness Assist with researching and solving accounting problems Assist with determining proper classification and coding ofincome and expenditures Assist in compliance with local, state, and federal regulationsand University policy and procedures Assist customers with University policies and procedures ormake referrals as necessary Collect and record payments; issue receipts Prepare and make daily bank deposits and manage changefunds Take necessary action to resolve customer problems ordiscrepancies Interact with internal and external auditors and participate inauditing projects May process, update and maintain various complextransactions Other duties as assigned Required Experience: Two years full-time experience providing financial or businessprocess support within established policies and procedures,including interpreting and applying policies and procedures topractical situations Experience using computerized accounting systems or spreadsheetsoftware to compile financial information, prepare summaries andreports A Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance may substitute forthe above work experience Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalency Required Other: None Additional Preferred: Education: Completion of at least one college-level accounting course witha preference for an Associate's Degree or higher in accounting or finance Experience in/with: Working in a customer service/support role Governmental fund accounting Banner Financial System Working in an area of Grant & Contract financial accountingor sponsored research administration Troubleshooting and identifying fiscal problems anddiscrepancies; creating and maintaining accurate records andtransactions; interpreting rules, policies and procedures Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: None Degree Requirement: N/A: No degree requirement FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Employee Category: Classified Pay Range: $20.14 per hour or higher depending onexperience Type of Appointment: Fiscal Year FTE: 1 Full Time/Part Time: Full Time Funding: A visa sponsorship is available for the position listed in thisvacancy: No Posting Date: 08/26/2026 Closing Date: Open Until Filled: Yes Background Check Statement: Applicants who are selected asfinal possible candidates must be able to pass a criminalbackground check.
