Overview The Director of Finance role offers a unique opportunity for a motivated, detail-oriented leader to take ownership of critical, mission-driven financial functions. This position ensures financial integrity across the organization, overseeing high-quality reporting, cash flow management, internal controls, and audit processes that directly support strategic decision-making. The Director leads day-to-day accounting operations while partnering closely with leadership and key stakeholders to shape and sustain a proactive, forward-looking financial strategy. This position is Hybrid based in Raleigh, NC, and requires 3 days a week in office. Primary Duties Lead all accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial records, including month-end close, DAF statements, and other reporting. Maintain financial accuracy and compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards, including monthly reconciliations of cash and investment accounts. Serve as lead on audit and tax compliance, including management of the Form 990 process with external partners, ensuring timely and accurate filings. Manage fixed assets, including tracking and analysis of capital expenditures and maintaining detailed records. Ensure timely payment of liabilities and thoughtful review of expenditures for cost-effectiveness and audit readiness. Partner with executive leadership to develop annual and multi-year budgets, providing strategic insight and identifying opportunities. Participate in quarterly investment meetings, aligning financial strategy with organizational priorities and supporting informed policy decisions. Oversee budgeting and financial tracking, ensuring accountability and transparency. Continuously strengthen financial processes, adopting new technologies to enhance efficiency while maintaining strong internal controls. Ensure financial policies and procedures remain current and are consistently applied across the organization. Extensive experience managing audits and working with external auditors. Qualifications Experience Preferred CPA strongly preferred.
