Retail Sales Associate - Sewing & Fabric Store

Job Description

Five Eighth Seams, a locally owned sewing and fabric store in Charleston, SC, is hiring a part-time team member for the summer! We’re looking for someone who enjoys helping others, has some sewing experience, and is comfortable in a creative retail environment.

Schedule & Availability:

20 hours a week
looking for evenings 2-8pm, 12-7pm and or weekends

What we’re looking for:

Basic sewing knowledge
A friendly, dependable person who enjoys helping customers
Someone who is organized, motivated, and a team player
Willingness to learn about fabric, tools, and machine brands we carry

Responsibilities include:

Assisting customers with fabric, patterns, and supplies
Cutting fabric accurately and maintaining store organization
Operating the register and restocking inventory
Supporting sewing classes or store events

Bonus points if you have:

Sales or retail experience, especially with big-ticket items
Experience with quilting, embroidery, or machine sewing
Familiarity with Husqvarna Viking or Pfaff machines (we can train you!)

As our business continues to grow, we’re looking for a part-time Sewing Machine Technician to help maintain and service both customer machines and the machines we use in our classroom.
