VP of Engineering

Job Description Client Summary:
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Healthcare analytics company focused on improving cost management and outcomes for complex therapies
- Works with national health plans to optimize high-cost specialty drug utilization
- Combines clinical expertise, data analytics, and market strategy to improve payer decision-making
- Positioned in the fast-growing market of specialty pharmacy and advanced therapy management
- Collaborative environment focused on delivering measurable value to healthcare organizations and patients
- Own the architecture of the platforms the organization builds and runs across affiliated business units
- Define and enforce AI-native development standards across all engineering work
- Write, review, and ship code daily using agentic AI tools alongside the engineering team
- Make fast, high-conviction technology decisions and own the outcomes
- Establish lean engineering practices including CI/CD, code review, deployment, and incident response
- Lead and mentor a team of early-career engineers, adapting coaching style to each individual
- Scale the engineering organization through hiring, onboarding, and team structure as the company grows
- Serve as the primary engineering interface between the Tempe team and affiliated business units
- Partner with executive leadership to ensure systems meet HIPAA and SOC2 requirements by design
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Proven track record as a hands-on engineering leader comfortable writing and reviewing code daily
- Daily, fluent use of agentic AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot Workspace
- Background in B2B software including platforms, internal tools, or enterprise systems
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, cloud-native architecture, and modern DevOps practices
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor early-career engineers in a fast-moving environment
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and making decisions with incomplete information
- Strong communication skills with both technical teams and executive leadership
- Experience in managed care, payer, or PBM environments
- Familiarity with medical-benefit drug economics, claims data, or value-based contracts
- Experience building or scaling engineering organizations from an early stage
- Background working with HIPAA and SOC2 compliance requirements by design
