Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Pediatric Emergency Department

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Pediatric Emergency Department provides professional nursing care by adhering to established standards of care and performance as outlined by the American Nurses Association and the Ohio Board of Nursing. The RN collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to promote optimal health outcomes for patients and their families, delivering proficient care based on comprehensive assessments of patient and family needs, in alignment with the hospital's mission.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver proficient nursing care in a fast-paced pediatric emergency environment.
• Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to ensure holistic support for patients and families.
• Promote a patient- and family-centered experience through effective communication and empathy.
• Act as a change agent to adapt to the rapidly changing census and care needs of all internal and external customers.
• Participate in floating across various Emergency Department locations and inpatient units as necessary based on staffing needs.
• Manage care for 1-4 patients, depending on acuity, in specialty pediatric units and mental health crisis settings.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Licensure: Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Ohio.
• Certifications: Current CPR and PALS certifications are required.

Work Schedule:

Night shift schedule of 5x8 hours (23:00 - 07:00).

Additional Expectations:

• Floating across all Emergency Department sites and inpatient units may be required based on staffing needs.
• Assignment to the Mental Health Crisis Center may occur as part of the RN rotation within the Emergency Department.
• Adhere to cooperative staffing guidelines; if the ED census is low, you may be required to float to specialty pediatric units, including Med/Surg, PICU, NICU, or Transitional Care Unit.
