Legacy Talent Search is currently seeking candidates for a Journeyman Manual Machinist in Portland, OR. Key Responsibilities:

Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, and other conventional machining equipment.

Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions to manufacture precision components.

Machine a variety of metals to exact specifications while maintaining tight tolerances.

Perform layouts, measurements, and calculations to determine machining requirements.

Select and install tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices for efficient production.

Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and height gauges.

Modify, repair, and fabricate custom parts, tooling, fixtures, and machine components as needed.

Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to ensure product quality.

Accurately document completed work, inspections, and production activities.

Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to meet daily production goals.

Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Promptly report equipment malfunctions, quality concerns, or safety hazards to supervisors.

Qualifications:

Journeyman Machinist certification or equivalent combination of education and extensive manual machining experience.

Minimum of 5 years of manual machining experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment preferred.

Strong experience operating manual mills, lathes, grinders, and related shop equipment.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings.

Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, feeds, speeds, and material properties.

Proficiency using precision measuring instruments and quality inspection techniques.

Excellent mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
