The Opportunity

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our dynamic team in New York. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with 1-3 years of experience to grow their career in a supportive and challenging environment. You will be instrumental in delivering high-quality respiratory care to a diverse patient population.

What You'll Do

• Assess, treat, and manage patients with respiratory disorders.
• Administer prescribed respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and chest physiotherapy.
• Operate and maintain mechanical ventilators, ensuring proper settings and patient tolerance.
• Monitor patient response to therapy and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and pulmonary function tests (PFTs).
• Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions and treatment plans.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in electronic health records (EHR).
• Respond to medical emergencies requiring respiratory support.

A Day in the Life

Your typical day will involve a mix of direct patient care, critical assessment, and collaborative problem-solving. You'll be interacting with patients across various units, managing complex respiratory conditions, and ensuring the optimal functioning of life-support equipment. You'll work closely with a multidisciplinary team, contributing your expertise to comprehensive patient care plans. This role may involve varied shifts to ensure continuous patient coverage.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Manual dexterity to operate respiratory equipment.
• Ability to lift and move patients or equipment (up to 50 lbs) with assistance.
• Good visual and auditory acuity.

What You'll Bring

Required:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
• Valid New York State Respiratory Therapist License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• 1-3 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Proficiency in ventilator management and critical care respiratory techniques.
• Strong understanding of respiratory physiology and pathology.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Preferred:

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Experience with specific patient populations (e.g., pediatrics, geriatrics).
• Familiarity with various EHR systems.
