Senior Consultant – Health & Welfare BenefitsBolton is seeking an experienced Senior Consultant to lead and deliver strategic consulting services across a broad portfolio of Health & Welfare benefits programs. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who enjoys partnering with clients, leading teams, and shaping long-term benefits strategies in a dynamic consulting environment.As a Senior Consultant, you will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, guiding plan design, financial strategy, vendor negotiations, and implementation – while mentoring junior staff and supporting business development efforts.What You'll DoServe as the primary consultant and relationship manager for assigned client groupsLead consulting engagements across medical, pharmacy, dental, life, disability, vision, FSA/HSA, voluntary benefits, and reinsuranceDrive claims analysis, renewal strategy, and financial modeling to support long-term client decision-makingManage RFPs, vendor searches, and carrier negotiations on behalf of clientsOversee plan implementations, open enrollment strategies, and employee communicationsPresent complex financial and compliance topics clearly to client leadership teamsIdentify cost drivers, utilization trends, benchmarking insights, and plan design opportunitiesStay current on healthcare marketplace trends, ACA requirements, and regulatory changesMentor and develop junior consultants and analystsSupport client development and growth efforts, including finalist presentations and conferencesWhat We're Looking ForRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience15+ years of experience in health & welfare consulting, brokerage, or carrier environmentsDeep expertise in group health plan strategy, pricing, and financial analysisProven success managing complex client relationships and multiple projects simultaneouslyStrong presentation, communication, and executive-level consulting skillsDemonstrated experience leading teams and mentoring junior staffWorking knowledge of benefits administration platforms and healthcare compliance (ACA)Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and WordPreferred QualificationsCEBS designation or actuarial/underwriting trainingMaryland Health & Life license (or ability to obtain within first year)Maryland Health Exchange Agent/Broker certification (or commitment to obtain)TravelApproximately 30% regional travel (land and air)Bolton offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:Family medical, dental, and vision coverageEmployer-paid life and disability insurance401(k) with company match (after 6 months)Paid holidays, vacation, and sick leaveHybrid telework arrangementsMonthly fitness stipendOngoing professional development and growth opportunitiesWhy Bolton?At Bolton, you'll join a collaborative consulting firm that values expertise, integrity, and long-term client partnerships.
