Job Title: Orthopedic Durable Medical Equipment & Cast Technician

Location: Southern Oregon Orthopedics, Medford, OR

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Pay: $20-22 per hour

Position Overview:

The DME & Cast Technician is responsible for providing high-quality patient care through the coordination and application of orthopedic braces, casts, and splints. This role requires a strong clinical foundation in orthopedics, exceptional attention to detail, and effective communication with patients, providers, and staff.

This position supports the vision, mission, and values of the organization while maintaining a safe, efficient, and patient-centered clinical environment. The DME & Cast Technician works under the direction of the DME & Cast Department Supervisor with oversight from the Clinical Services Manager.

Essential Functions and Duties:

• Apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints, and orthopedic braces as directed by physicians
• Ensure proper fit and function of all devices to support optimal patient outcomes and prevent complications
• Assess and document skin integrity and neurovascular status before and after brace, splint, or cast application
• Assist physicians with fracture reductions and minor in-room procedures as needed
• Apply dressings and provide additional patient care support as directed
• Respond to patient phone calls and messages, documenting all interactions in the EMR in a timely manner
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all patient care and device application in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards
• Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked clinical workspace
• Adhere to all infection control, safety, and clinic protocols

Qualifications:

• Minimum of one (1) year of healthcare experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, fracture classification, and orthopedic bracing/casting materials
• Proficiency with EMR systems
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to provide patient-centered care with professionalism and empathy

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 30 minutes continuously
• Regularly required to bend, squat, lift, and move up to 25 pounds
• Must have full use of hands, arms, and fingers for equipment operation and patient care
