A dedicated California school district near San Francisco is searching for a skilled Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist Teacher on a contract basis. In this vital position, you’ll work closely with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, empowering them to access the curriculum and flourish academically and socially.
Your responsibilities will include crafting and implementing individualized education plans, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting students in both mainstream and specialized classroom environments. Your ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, and colleagues will be central to your success.
Qualifications:
- California Teaching Credential with Deaf and Hard of Hearing authorization required
- Previous experience working in school-based settings is highly valued
- Strong communication, advocacy, and collaboration skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students with hearing impairments
- Use a range of communication methods, including signed and spoken language, to meet individual student needs
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Consult with general education teachers and staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion
- Support families through regular communication and resources
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute valuable insights to educational planning
