The organization partners with entrepreneurial leaders and businesses, providing strategic capital, operational infrastructure, and centralized support functions to help them scale while preserving local autonomy.

Since inception, the company has experienced significant organic and acquisition-driven growth and now oversees a complex multi-entity structure across numerous jurisdictions. The organization is entering its next phase of expansion and is building out key infrastructure within its corporate finance function to support continued growth.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Controller, the Tax Director will serve as the company's internal tax leader, responsible for overseeing strategic tax planning, compliance, and tax structuring across a highly complex multi-entity environment.

The organization includes 100+ legal entities spanning multiple federal tax classifications, including partnerships, corporations, disregarded entities, and international subsidiaries. The Tax Director will partner closely with executive leadership and external advisors to ensure accurate compliance, optimize tax positions, and support M&A activity.

This role is ideal for a technically strong tax professional who thrives in a dynamic, high-growth environment and enjoys building scalable tax infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Partnership Tax

  • Oversee partnership tax compliance and planning across a multi-tier entity structure

  • Manage allocation methodologies, 704(c) tracking, and special allocations

  • Coordinate K-1 processes, investor communications, and quarterly estimates

  • Partner with external advisors on timely filings and extensions
M&A Tax

  • Act as internal tax lead during acquisitions

  • Review diligence findings and raise structuring considerations

  • Coordinate purchase price allocations (Form 8594), accounting method changes, and rollover equity considerations

  • Manage post-close tax integration matters
Corporate Tax (C-Corp)

  • Prepare and review income tax provisions (ASC 740)

  • Oversee estimated payments, extensions, and annual filings

  • Support transfer pricing concepts where applicable
State & Local Tax (SALT)

  • Oversee multi-state income, franchise, sales & use, and business license filings

  • Conduct nexus evaluations and apportionment reviews

  • Establish scalable SALT processes across the platform
International Tax

  • Coordinate with external advisors regarding international operations

  • Oversee cross-border compliance considerations
Entity Administration & Compliance

  • Maintain centralized tax compliance calendar across all entities

  • Manage registered agent relationships and business registrations

  • Handle taxing authority correspondence and audits

  • Drive tax process improvements as the organization scales
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Tax (Master's preferred)

  • CPA required

  • 8+ years of progressive tax experience

  • Deep partnership tax expertise (Subchapter K, 704(c), multi-tier structures)

  • Strong M&A tax exposure

  • Working knowledge of ASC 740 and SALT compliance

  • Public accounting background (Big 4 or large regional firm preferred)

  • Experience in multi-entity or private equity-backed environments strongly preferred
Skills & Attributes

  • Exceptional technical depth in partnership taxation

  • Strong organizational and project management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams

  • Effective communicator who can translate technical matters into business language

  • Proactive, analytical, and solutions-oriented mindset

  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with tax compliance software preferred
