The Missouri Pork Association (MPA) operates a cooking and dining facility located on the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia, MO. In addition to this facility, MPA owns a food trailer, a private-label pork rub, and snack sticks. Beginning in summer 2026, MPA plans to launch a food stand in the new arena at the Missouri State Fairgrounds. The Director of Concessions will oversee the daily operations of these ventures. The overarching goal is to grow this initiative into a profitable business with a strong pork promotion component.

 

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and maintain all assets owned and operated by MPA related to concessions.
• Keep accurate and organized business records using best management practices to support informed decision-making by the board and leadership.
• Promote pork as a flavorful, safe, and nutritious protein source.
• Plan and execute events, including ordering supplies and staffing appropriately to ensure successful operations.
• Recruit, manage, and motivate a diverse part-time team, ranging from first-time teenage workers to semi-retired professionals.

 

Compliance:

• Ensure all facilities maintain current health certifications and comply with health regulations.
• Acquire and maintain the appropriate food handler’s certificate.
• Acquire and maintain all required business licenses.

 

Skills:

• Strong leadership and team management skills in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of service, cleanliness, and food quality.
• Ability to tow a trailer and set it up at events.

 

Qualifications:

• Education or experience in hospitality management.
• Basic accounting and computer skills.
• Proven experience in staff supervision and operations management.

 

Work Demands: This is a full-time position with variable hours, including frequent weekend events throughout the year. The Missouri State Fair is MPA’s largest annual event and requires significant time and attention. The Director of Concessions and is expected to be on-site every day during the fair.
