Radiology Specialist Assistant – Interventional Radiology

Shift: Days | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Position Overview

The Radiology Specialist Assistant supports Interventional Radiology procedures under physician supervision, providing high-quality patient care, procedural assistance, and clinical coordination across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with Interventional Radiology procedures and patient management
• Perform fluoroscopic procedures including barium studies
• Conduct joint injections under fluoroscopic or ultrasound guidance
• Perform paracentesis, thoracentesis, abscess drain placements, and bone marrow biopsies
• Assist with ultrasound-guided, CT-guided, and stereotactic biopsies
• Support breast biopsy procedures and marker clip placement
• Monitor patients pre/post procedure and respond to emergencies as needed
• Educate patients and provide procedural instructions
• Maintain accurate procedural documentation and imaging records
• Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and technologists to ensure smooth workflow
• Ensure compliance with radiation safety, infection control, and hospital policies

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field required
• Graduate of an approved program recognized by the New York State Education Department
• ARRT certification in Radiography required
• Additional certifications in CT, Ultrasound, IR, or RRA highly preferred
• BLS required | ACLS preferred
• Strong Interventional Radiology procedural experience preferred
