Occupational Therapist - Travel Contract

Make a meaningful difference as a travel Occupational Therapist in Kapaa, HI. Provide patient-centered occupational therapy services in a hospital setting to help patients with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities regain or improve daily living skills. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, document outcomes, and contribute to departmental programs that support patient recovery and quality of life. Candidates should expect a varied caseload including inpatient and outpatient services, and participation in departmental education and quality initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor‘s, Master‘s, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited educational program.
• Active Hawaii Occupational Therapy state license required to start the assignment.
• Current BLS certification from AHA or ARC may be required.
• Experience providing occupational therapy evaluations and treatments for activities of daily living (ADL), range of motion (ROM), strength, and functional mobility in an acute hospital or skilled nursing environment.
• Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, documenting treatment plans and outcomes, and coordinating discharge follow-up with community agencies.
• Ability to instruct patients, families, and staff on OT recommendations and to provide consultative services to unit staff and activity personnel.
• Willingness to participate in departmental committees, safety programs, and in-service education.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in inpatient acute care on an island or rural health system preferred.
• Experience with orthotics fabrication, sensory integration techniques, gait training, and upper-extremity interventions preferred.
• Experience supervising or providing input on departmental policies, budgeting, or equipment trial and evaluation preferred.

Assignment Details

• Shift Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with a lunch period 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.; flexibility of work hours may occur.
• Work days: Monday through Friday, with required availability to work Saturdays. No exceptions.
• Clinician may perform services across inpatient and outpatient units and consult with nursing and activity staff as needed.
