Central Jersey College Prep Charter School (CJCP) is a tuition-free, public charter school in Somerset, New Jersey serving grades Kindergarten through 12th. The mission of CJCP is to provide academic and social opportunities for students to attain the skills necessary for success in post-secondary education. CJCP serves its mission by offering rigorous educational programs with an emphasis on college preparation, college and career counseling, and extracurricular enrichment activities.

Responsibilities Include:

• Operating a school bus and safely transporting students and staff to and from designated locations.
• Following assigned routes and schedules, maintaining a clean and operational vehicle, assisting students with boarding and disembarking.
• Adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations while providing excellent customer service to students, parents, and staff.
• Performing daily pre-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in good working condition and report any mechanical issues or accidents promptly.
• Monitoring student behavior on the bus and address any disruptive actions in a calm, professional manner.
• Communicating effectively with school staff, parents, and administrators regarding student needs or concerns.
• Attend any required trainings and maintain necessary certifications/licenses.

Essential Duties:

• Communicates responsibly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and school leadership;
• Accounts for student attendance
• Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures;
• Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities;

Additional Responsibilities:

• Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale;
• Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Proven communication and instructional strategies;
• Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing;
• Excellent organizational skills.

Minimum Requirements:

• NJ Criminal History;
• Work authorization in the U.S.;
• Tuberculosis Test;
• School Bus Driving: 1 year (Required);
• Commercial Driving: 1 year (Required);
• Valid CDL license with P and S endorsements;
• High school or equivalent (Preferred);
• Must provide Driver Abstract Report issued by Department of Motor Vehicles;
• Compliance with DOT physical examination and Drug and Alcohol Testing Requirements;
• Current Medical Card;
• Minimum of three (3) years' previous safe driving experience.

8 hour shift - Monday to Friday

Work Location: In person

Job Types: Full-time, 10-Month Contract

Salary Starting: $35/hr
