Hospital Veterinarian

About the Role Veterinarian position at Vetco Total Care Full Service Veterinary Hospitals. Provides immersive patient care in a full-service hospital setting. Responsibilities Perform physical examinations, diagnose and treat diseases, and provide preventive care based on patient signalment, lifestyle, and environment. Develop comprehensive problem lists, differential diagnoses, diagnostic plans, and treatments for each patient. Document all patient observations, exam findings, diagnostics, treatments, medications, client interactions, and diagnoses in the medical record. Perform routine and complex surgical procedures including spays/neuters, abdominal exploratory surgeries, and mass removals. Perform routine and complex dental procedures, including full dental exams, evaluation of radiographs, extractions, and oral surgical procedures. Develop treatment plans for day hospitalization patients, transition patients to overnight care, and communicate with referral hospitals. Participate in rounds as incoming or exiting doctor at the beginning and end of shifts. Disseminate knowledge, improve care and communication for patients, clients, and staff. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited school. Active veterinary license in the state of employment without contingencies or ability to obtain by start date. Current DEA license and Controlled Substance license, if applicable. USDA Category I accreditation (minimum) or completion within two months of hire date. Comfortable performing anesthesia and routine surgeries (spays/neuters, mass removals, dental procedures). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Compassionate, professional, able to maintain calm demeanor during stressful situations. Telephone and computer skills. Team player willing to learn new techniques, offer ideas, and accept change. Education and Experience See Qualifications section. Work Environment Conducts majority of duties in a full-service hospital. Requires bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 pounds, and standing for extended periods. Requires direct client interaction.
