Description Job Description Position Title: Programs Coordinator Department: Community Impact FLSA Status: Full Time Hourly/Non-Exempt Schedule: Approximately 40 Hours per Week. Base schedule is Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm including a lunch break. Schedule may vary with nights and weekends depending on program needs. Reports To: Director of Community Impact Salary Range: $22.71-$23.00/hour Revision Date: 09/21/26 WHO WE ARE: Established in 1985, Food Bank of Central New York is a not-for-profit organization leading the fight to end hunger across an 11-county service area that includes Central New York, Northern New York, and the Mohawk Valley. The Food Bank acts as the primary food distribution hub for hundreds of food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and faith-based organizations in our region. In addition to food acquisition and distribution, we address the root causes of food insecurity through innovative programming, nutrition education, outreach, and collaboration with non-traditional food bank partners such as healthcare providers. The Food Bank also engages in state and federal advocacy efforts to strengthen anti-hunger policy and work alongside community partners to create lasting solutions that ensure all neighbors can thrive. Our impact over 12 months is: 22.5 million pounds of food distributed 18.7 million meals provided to neighbors in need 7.6 million pounds of produce and dairy distributed 6.1 million pounds of food rescued from 146 retail partners 576,080 pounds of hygiene & household items distributed POSITION SUMMARY The Programs Coordinator supports the implementation and day-to-day administration of various Food Bank programs. This role helps ensure programs operate effectively, align with the mission of Food Bank of Central New York, and meet the needs of the communities we serve. The Programs Coordinator works closely with staff, community partners, and other departments to support program activities, maintain compliance requirements, and contribute to positive program outcomes. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Coordinate and support Food Bank programs and initiatives as assigned. Collect and track program data, participant information, and feedback to support program evaluation and reporting. Manage assigned program orders through internal systems, ensuring accuracy, timely processing, and adherence to established procedures. Collaborate with internal departments to support program operations and ensure timely completion of program activities. Build and maintain positive working relationships with community partners, agencies, and other stakeholders. Assist with program budgets, expense tracking, grant documentation, and other administrative requirements. Support compliance with applicable regulations, policies, procedures, and grant requirements. Represent Food Bank of Central New York at community events, meetings, and outreach activities as assigned. Assist with training, orientation, and coordination of volunteers and program participants as needed. Prepare reports, correspondence, and other program-related documentation. Maintain organized program records and assist with other duties related to program operations as assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally. Use of hands for typing, writing, and other administrative tasks. Ability to travel locally throughout our 11-county service area as needed to conduct site visits, complete program evaluations and attend meetings. EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Associate’s degree in social work, public administration, business, or a related field (preferred). Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (required). This position will receive a pre-employment drug test (drivers only) and background check. Food Bank of Central New York complies with all applicable state and federal laws pertaining to drug testing and background checks, including Article 23-A. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 1-3 years of experience in program coordination, customer service, nonprofit operations, administrative support, community outreach, or a related field. Experience working in nonprofit organizations or food security programs (preferred). SKILL REQUIREMENTS Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping, data entry, and reporting. Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with community partners, volunteers, and colleagues. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams. Ability to learn and effectively utilize internal program management and ordering systems. Basic analytical skills, including the ability to collect, track, and summarize program data. Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team. Demonstrated customer service and problem-solving skills.
