Overview

St. Croix Electric Inc. is seeking an experienced Minnesota-licensed Master or Journeyman Electrician to join our growing team. We are looking for more than someone who can complete assigned electrical work. The ideal candidate is a confident, dependable electrician who can take ownership of projects, lead apprentices, communicate professionally with customers, and make sound decisions in the field. Our work is varied and fast-paced. Projects may include small residential service calls, diagnostic assessments, remodels, new construction, service upgrades, EV chargers, solar installations, and small commercial work. Priorities and project conditions can change quickly, so this position requires someone who can adapt, solve problems, and keep work moving safely and efficiently. The right candidate will know when to make an informed field decision and when additional direction or approval from the owner /master electrician is needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in residential and small commercial settings.
• Lead assigned projects from initial review through completion.
• Direct, train, and support apprentices and other team members onsite.
• Assign work appropriately and verify that completed work meets company, code, and safety standards.
• Review work orders, project plans, customer requests, blueprints, schematics, and technical information before beginning work.
• Make educated field decisions regarding installation methods, materials, sequencing, and project completion.
• Identify when conditions differ from the approved scope and communicate changes before proceeding.
• Contact the owner /master electrician or designated project lead when clarification, authorization, or additional direction is required.
• Diagnose electrical issues and recommend practical, code-compliant solutions.
• Adapt to scheduling changes, unexpected site conditions, shifting priorities, and changing project needs.
• Communicate professionally with homeowners, property managers, contractors, inspectors, vendors, and other trades.
• Provide customers with clear updates regarding findings, recommendations, project status, and next steps.
• Maintain consistent internal communication with the office, owner, apprentices, and other electricians.
• Take clear onsite photographs and upload them to the assigned project in Jobber.
• Enter accurate job notes, material information, project updates, scope changes, recommendations, and completion details in Jobber.
• Identify additional work, code concerns, safety issues, or customer needs encountered onsite and communicate them through the appropriate process.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite.
• Properly use and account for company tools, equipment, and materials.
• Support company procedures, customer-service standards, and continued business growth.

Types of Work

Candidates should be comfortable working across a variety of electrical projects, including:

• Residential service calls
• Electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic assessments
• Residential remodels and additions
• New residential construction
• Small commercial projects
• Electrical panel replacements
• Service upgrades
• EV charger installations
• Solar-related electrical work
• Lighting, receptacle, switch, and circuit installations
• Code corrections and safety-related repairs
• Property-management and recurring service work
• Other electrical projects based on customer and business needs

This position requires someone prepared to take responsibility for the successful completion of assigned work.

• Provide apprentices with clear direction, instruction, and feedback.
• Organize project tasks and help ensure labor and materials are used effectively.
• Anticipate project needs and address potential delays before they become larger problems.
• Take initiative without exceeding the approved project scope.
• Know when a field decision can be made independently and when owner approval is necessary.
• Communicate concerns, changes, and material needs promptly.
• Help improve field processes, documentation, material planning, and project execution.
• Demonstrate a take-charge attitude while remaining respectful and collaborative.
• Contribute ideas that help St. Croix Electric operate more efficiently and continue growing.

Required Qualifications

• Current and valid Minnesota Journeyman Electrician or Master Electrician license.
• Previous experience performing residential electrical work.
• Experience leading electrical projects, apprentices, helpers, or small field teams.
• Strong understanding of Minnesota electrical codes and jobsite safety requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, schematics, technical diagrams, and electrical drawings.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining appropriate communication with company leadership.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional customer-service skills and comfort communicating face-to-face with customers.
• Ability to remain productive and organized in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Comfortable using smartphones, email, mobile applications, digital photographs, and field-service software.
• Ability to provide accurate and detailed job documentation.
• Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of electrical work, including lifting, climbing, bending, reaching, working at heights, and working in confined or difficult spaces.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using Jobber or a similar field-service management or CRM platform.
• Experience with residential service, remodels, new construction, service upgrades, EV chargers, solar, and small commercial projects.
• Experience preparing material lists and planning labor or project sequencing.
• Experience identifying and documenting scope changes.
• Experience communicating with inspectors, general contractors, property managers, and other trades.
• Interest in mentoring apprentices and supporting employee development.
• Interest in improving business processes and helping a growing electrical company move forward.

Schedule and Work Location

• Full-time position; 35-45 hour per week.
• Monday through Friday
• Typical schedule: 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
• Project locations vary throughout Eagan, Inver Grove Heights, and the surrounding Twin Cities metropolitan area
• In-person, field-based position
• Daily assignments and schedules may change based on customer, staffing, and project needs

Compensation and Benefits

• $40–$55 per hour , based on license level, experience, leadership ability, and overall qualifications

A successful electrician in this role will be able to receive an assignment, review the available information, organize the work, lead the onsite team, communicate with the customer and office, adjust to changing conditions, and complete the project with quality workmanship and accurate documentation.

Pay: $40.00 - $55.00 per hour
