Overview Kaweah Health is a publicly owned, community healthcare organization that provides comprehensive health services to the greater Visalia area in central California. With more than 5,000 employees, Kaweah Health offers state‑of‑the‑art medicine and high‑quality preventive services in our acute care hospital, specialized health centers and clinics. Our eight‑campus healthcare district has 613 beds and serves a broad continuum of care. Position Purpose The purpose of this position is to protect and promote health, prevent illness and injury, and alleviate suffering through nursing diagnosis and treatment. This nurse demonstrates leadership in the professional practice setting through oversight of the interdisciplinary health care team, providing holistic care and advocating for patients and families served. Qualifications License/Certification required: CA RN license. BLS and ACLS within one year of hire/transfer. Education preferred: BSN, MSN, or current enrollment in an RN‑BSN program. Responsibilities Practice nursing guided by the Code of Ethics and the organization’s values, treating everyone with respect. Identify high‑risk patients and initiate appropriate interventions in coordination with ancillary departments. Maintain patient confidentiality within legal and regulatory parameters and serve as a patient advocate. Deliver care in a nonjudgmental, nondiscriminatory manner that preserves patient autonomy, dignity, and rights. Apply the nursing process through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, documented via direct observation, peer review, and audits. Use clinical data to monitor quality and effectiveness of nursing care, identify areas for improvement, and recommend changes to practice or outcomes. Assist in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and practice guidelines to improve quality of care. Participate in interdisciplinary teams evaluating clinical practice or health services related to patient care. Engage in quality improvement studies, contribute to task forces or committees, implement recommendations, and share findings with colleagues. Collaborate and communicate effectively with patients, families, and other health care providers, utilizing peer review and observation. Review documentation for appropriate referrals, formulate plans of care, involve patients in decisions, and make referrals as needed. Team Leader Responsibilities Primary clinical resource and mentor for staff on the assigned unit. Act as Nurse Manager Representative in their absence. Provide leadership, support, and problem‑solving for staff, including orientation of new employees and preceptor support. Ensure staffing assignments align with patient needs and staff abilities, coordinating admissions, transfers, and shift reports. Confirm equipment checks, patient flow, and critical patient communication with leadership. Maintain open lines of communication, document care issues, and complete Statements of Concern when required. Make fiscally responsible staffing and supply decisions, while supporting staff, counseling needs, and patient care. Apply cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age‑specific knowledge to meet the needs of patients and families. Benefits Full‑time positions are eligible for benefits.
