Through clinical excellence and cutting-edge research, SCRI is redefining cancer care around the world.Job DescriptionAs a Lab Technician you will perform high-level medical laboratory processing procedures for specimens received on patients enrolled in clinical trials.You will initiate improvements, tools, processes and forms to enhance the efficiency and the quality of work in the labYou will expertly process and ship pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic and all other samples according to instructions provided by study sponsorYou will be responsible for high- level processing procedures requested by study sponsors becoming the primary processor and trainer for those proceduresYou will be responsible for attending the lab portion of the site initiation visit (SIV) when possibleYou will provide assistance in understanding a lab manual when requiredYou will prepare study supplies/source documents necessary for obtaining lab samples prior to patient treatmentYou will utilize electronic medical record (EMR) for source documentationYou will maintain accurate freezer sample logsYou will maintain accurate records of sample acquisition and shipping. All PK samples must have source documents available in patient charts that are accurate and complete. All shipping and processing records should be maintained in the patient’s study folderYou will schedule appropriate courier for sample shipments.You will ensure there is an adequate supply of dry ice available for shipmentsYou will have the ability to respond to queries generated from study sponsor or contract lab regarding patient/sample dataYou will maintain laboratory equipment and workspace in all areasYou will interface with Research nurses to ensure that all research patients have correct lab kits prior to patients’ visits and to ensure all necessary specimens are collected per lab manualYou should have for this position:Vocational or technical training in laboratory process and/or phlebotomyA current BLS certificationKnowledge of organization policies, procedures systemsKnowledge of OSHA requirements for safe handling of blood and body fluidsExperience gathering and reporting informationExperience in venipuncture and blood processingThe ability to multi-task in fast paced environmentThe ability to work effectively with staff, and other internal and external sponsor and agenciesAt least one year of clinical laboratory and phlebotomy or equivalent experienceAbout Sarah Cannon Research InstituteSarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI) is one of the world’s leading oncology research organizations conducting community-based clinical trials.
