Maintenance MechanicThe University of Miami/UHealth department of Facilities has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Maintenance Mechanic to work at the UHealth Medical Campus. The Maintenance Mechanic constructs, maintains, and tests mechanical equipment, machinery, and components to maintain the physical assets of the institution in good working order. Maintenance Mechanic is a general classification of the various skilled maintenance functions that by experience, training and qualification can perform assigned duties without constant direct supervision.Responsibilities include:Greasing, lubricating, and replacing filters in air and hydraulic systems.Performing inspections and repairs of equipment, and completing scheduled maintenance.Diagnosing problems and making adjustments or reporting situation to proper managing staff.Preparing and maintaining records and reports.Reading and interpreting equipment manuals and work orders.Ordering necessary parts and equipment from vendors and suppliers.Adhering to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguarding University assets.Department Specific Functions include:Providing the proper care, preventative maintenance, and repair maintenance of building surfaces, building structures, hardware, furniture and fixtures in assigned areas.Initiating work orders to appropriate maintenance personnel when the nature of the work is beyond the mechanic's capability. Assisting with the completion of the work as required.Replacing broken glass in doors, windows and partitions.Replacing light bulbs and fluorescent tubes that custodian personnel cannot reach without scaffolding or ladders 6 feet or smaller.Replacing faucet washers and flush valves; repairing minor plumbing leaks; unclogging drains with snakes and plumber's helpers; and other plumbing duties.Replacing broken commode seats; repairing tissue, towel and soap dispensers; repairing bathroom partitions; and replacing mirrors.Repairing or replacing damaged ceiling, wall, floor, and window coverings, including minor plaster work.Adjusting and repairing all door hardware, including the door closure and locks.Repairing furniture and fixtures.Inspecting fire extinguishers and replacing units that are out-of-date, discharged or damaged with fully charged units.Performing minor carpentry work such as hanging mirrors and pictures, installing shelves, tightening loose signs and supports, repairing handrails, trimming wood doors, etc.Painting areas that require no more than two hours to paint.Performing minor electrical maintenance such as replacing light switches, ballasts, light fixtures, wall outlets, replacing fuses, etc. Conducting routine building inspections.Conducting periodic inspections of roofs and performing minor roof repairs.
