Under the supervision of the Director of Admissions, the Intake Nurse is responsible for screening patient admissions and communicating information to the physician to determine if a patient meets the level of care. The Intake Nurse plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care by evaluating the needs of both walk‑in patients and those calling in. This position will actively participate in department meetings, engage in quality initiatives, and ensure that all services align with TJC standards. Job Duties/Responsibilities Perform nursing assessments for inpatient programs. Cross‑train other RNs. Participate in medical emergencies. Conduct clinical assessments. Medication management. Accurate documentation and calls. Crisis intervention. Health education to patients/families. Insurance verifications. Completing comprehensive assessment via phone. Education Required Graduate of an accredited school of nursing either through ADN, diploma, or BSN program. Licensure Licensed by the Texas Board of Nursing. Experience 1 year of experience as an RN in behavioral health. Certifications CPR and hospital de‑escalation certifications obtained within 30 days of hire.
