Make a meaningful impact in the life of a middle school student by providing essential nursing care during the school day. This contract opportunity is located in a dynamic educational setting near Waterbury, CT, and focuses on supporting a middle school-aged student who requires one-on-one monitoring and diabetes management.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with school staff, educators, and parents to ensure the student’s health and well-being, all while contributing to a supportive learning environment. Enjoy a consistent weekday schedule with hours from 7:40 am to 2:30 pm, allowing for an excellent work-life balance while utilizing your specialized nursing expertise.

Qualifications:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Prior experience working with school-aged children, ideally in a school or pediatric setting
• Competency in diabetes management, including glucose monitoring and insulin administration
• Professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct 1:1 monitoring and healthcare support for a student with diabetes throughout the school day
• Administer medications, track glucose levels, and respond to any related medical needs
• Maintain accurate documentation of care and communicate with caregivers and school staff as necessary
• Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive environment within the school community
• Support additional health-related needs as they arise, in accordance with the school’s policies
