About the Facility – California Men's Colony The California Men's Colony (CMC) is an American male-only state prison located northwest of the city of San Luis Obispo County, along the central California coast approximately halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The CMC has been called a 'country club' and 'garden spot' among California prisons because of its wide variety of vocational, educational, and psychological treatment programs. Notable CMC programs include 'Arts in Corrections', programs for fire suppression, conservation, and other community service work, Central Coast Adult School, Prison Industry Authority, Prisoners Against Child Abuse, and other supporting programs such as Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous. Psych Tech - Responsibilities

• The Psych Tech will provide basic behavioral and psychiatric care to mentally or developmentally disabled patients/youth.
• Conduct daily monitoring and clinical rounds for patients with mental illness symptoms.
• Administers medications, treatments, and injections, and performs other basic nursing tasks under RN or MD supervision.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to create and implement treatment plans.
• Assist in developing and leading group or individual therapy sessions.
• Work with custody personnel to manage patients' care.
• Monitor and report any changes in the physical or mental condition of patients.
• Coordinate clinical appointments and ensure patients are present.
• Provide first aid/CPR when necessary.
• Accurately document all care and activities in compliance with CDCR/CCHCS requirements.
• Provide mental health education and develop resources for mentally ill or sex offender inmates.
• Assist patients in applying for benefits and accessing community programs.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of new treatment or rehabilitation programs.

Psych Tech - Requirements

• Must have one year experience within the last three years performing services similar in scope to those defined herein in a public or private institution. Internship does not count toward the required experience.
• Possess and maintain a current and valid license in the state of California as a Psychiatric Tech.
