Plumber – Process Piping & Plant Utilities - Licensed Industrial

The Licensed Industrial Plumber will install, modify, repair, and maintain the piping and utility systems that keep manufacturing operations running. Work includes process water loops , chilled water systems , compressed air distribution , chemical feed and transfer lines , bulk material conveying piping , and industrial utility systems connected directly to production equipment.

This position supports machine installations , plant relocations , facility upgrades , and industrial construction projects across the United States. Candidates must be able to read blueprints , P&IDs , isometric drawings , and technical specifications while maintaining a strong focus on safety, code compliance, productivity, and quality workmanship.

 

Responsibilities

Installation & System Work

  • Install process water systems and chilled water distribution systems , including chiller connections , cooling loops, supply and return headers, and branch tie-ins to production machinery.
  • Install water trough systems , wash stations, open-drain process water infrastructure, and industrial utility piping in manufacturing environments.
  • Install and modify compressed air headers , branch distribution piping, drop lines, and point-of-use connections throughout industrial facilities.
  • Run chemical feed piping , chemical transfer piping , and injection piping using service-appropriate materials, including PVC , CPVC , stainless steel, and lined pipe systems.
  • Install bulk material conveying piping and pneumatic conveying piping systems that support production processes.
  • Perform advanced pipefitting work, including cutting, threading, grooving, soldering, brazing, layout, and mechanical joining across a wide range of pipe materials and sizes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints , P&IDs , isometric drawings , and technical specifications to complete work according to design intent, project scope, and applicable code.
  • Install valves, strainers, traps, regulators, instrumentation connections, and associated components on industrial process piping and utility systems.
  • Perform pressure testing , system flushing, startup support, and commissioning activities to verify installed systems before client turnover.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair failures in process water , chilled water , compressed air , chemical piping , and material transfer piping systems with minimal disruption to plant operations.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on process piping systems, chiller connections, cooling towers, compressed air lines, and associated industrial utility systems.
  • Identify leaks, flow restrictions, pressure issues, equipment connection problems, and system performance concerns.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, system modifications, material usage, and job progress accurately and in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Plumber’s License .
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in industrial plumbing , industrial pipefitting , or process piping within manufacturing or industrial plant environments.
  • Experience must be in industrial or manufacturing settings; residential or light commercial plumbing experience alone is not considered equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience with process water systems , chilled water systems , compressed air distribution , and chemical piping .
  • Ability to perform pipefitting tasks, including threading, grooving, soldering, brazing, cutting, layout, and mechanical joining.
  • Proficiency reading and interpreting blueprints , P&IDs , isometric drawings , technical specifications, and project plans.
  • Strong working knowledge of plumbing codes , OSHA safety standards , and applicable industrial safety regulations.
  • Proficiency with plumbing hand tools, power tools, pipe cutting equipment, joining equipment, and pressure testing instruments .
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing process system failures, utility piping issues, pressure problems, leaks, and flow restrictions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an active manufacturing plant environment .
  • Strong attention to detail, quality workmanship, safety awareness, and professional communication skills.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy materials, work in confined spaces, climb, bend, stand for extended periods, and perform field work in industrial settings.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for project assignments across New England and nationally as needed.
  • Flexibility to work variable shifts, overtime, weekends, or on-call schedules based on project demands.
