City/State: New Rochelle, New York Grant Funded: No Department: MNR 3 NORTH Bargaining Unit: NYSNA Work Shift: Day Work Days: Varying Days Scheduled Hours: 7PM–7:30AM Scheduled Daily Hours: 11.5HOURS Hourly Rate:$55.23 (subject to shift differential, experience, education, or other factors) Job Summary Delivers nursing care by developing a nursing diagnosis; establishing nursing care objectives; defining nursing interventions; providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends to understand patient conditions, medications, and self‑care skills; noting changing conditions and needs; re‑evaluating care objectives. Medical‑Surgical (Med‑Surg) Registered Nurses provide comprehensive care to adult patients, primarily managing those recovering from surgeries, acute illnesses, or chronic conditions. Key duties include conducting patient assessments, administering medications and treatments (IVs, wound care), monitoring vital signs, and educating patients and families. They work closely with multidisciplinary teams, handling admissions, discharges, and documentation to ensure patient safety and care continuity. Essential Functions Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating the nursing care plan, and coordinating with other healthcare providers. Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, and documenting patient physical condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors. Teach healthcare requirements by establishing patient care goals and instructing patients and families on medications and self‑care skills. Evaluate patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes, and re‑evaluating care objectives. Assure quality care by adhering to professional standards, healthcare organization policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local requirements including JCAHO standards. Maintain a safe, secure patient care environment by following infection‑control policies, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations. Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Protect confidentiality by safeguarding patient information. Maintain patient care equipment and supplies by following operating instructions, troubleshooting, and ordering necessary items. Improve nursing job knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, and participation in professional societies. Contribute to organizational success by welcoming new requests and assisting colleagues. Qualifications AS Required – BSN, Preferred: less than 1 year. Completion of a nursing program and an active license. 1–3years of experience working in a clinical environment. Knowledge of patient rights and laws such as HIPAA. Ability to perform assessments and nursing functions as per basic nursing preparation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Registered Nurse, NewYork, required. BLS/ACLS certification.
