Data Center Relocation Project Manager

Job Description

Our client operates a data center providing technology infrastructure, services and support to a number of organizations in a variety of locations. The current data center (DC) was commissioned in 2001 and is located in a leased space. The DC houses the main computer hardware and critical systems of numerous organizations. The DC currently has approximately 9,600 sq. ft. of occupied conditioned space that will be relocated to a primary and secondary data center.

The Data Center Relocation Project Manager will be responsible for all project management activities including but not limited to:

• Develop and implement detail schedules that identify the tasks and activities necessary to support the New Data Center Program;
• Responsible for communicating DC Program related interests to the Leadership Committee, Executive Sponsors, and Project Team Leads;
• Responsible for project budget management and reporting;
• Responsible for managing project risks and issues;
• Governs project issues and risks working with the Executive Director as an escalation point when necessary;
• Works with Project Leads and SMEs on project planning activities;
• Assists team leads with documenting strategies related to the New DC Program;
• Responsible for the overall project management and coordination of project deliverables;
• Hosts and facilitates all project meetings;
• Responsible for providing project status reporting; and
• Responsible for creating the final Project Summary and formal shutdown of the project.

Job Skills

• The consultant shall demonstrate Data Center infrastructure project management experience.
• The consultant shall demonstrate medium to large Data Center relocation project management experience.
• The consultant shall demonstrate experience in the migration, relocation, consolidation of data centers.
• The consultant shall demonstrate Core Infrastructure (Network, Storage, and Security) project management experience.
• The consultant shall demonstrate data move/transport project management experience.
• The consultant shall demonstrate Data Center infrastructure design, build, and implementation project management experience.
• The consultant shall demonstrate Data Center Disaster Recovery project management experience.
• The position will require strong client agency communication skills.
• The consultant shall demonstrate an understanding of Data Center Operations.
• The consultant shall demonstrate familiarity with functional operations of server, storage, and network functions.
• The consultant shall demonstrate experience managing budgets greater than $20M.
